Benji was an 18-year-old Chihuahua who demonstrated incredible resilience. He arrived at the shelter for euthanasia after his third home no longer wanted him. However, when the LHS team met Benji, we saw a spark of life that signaled his journey was far from over. Determined to give him another chance, we provided him with medical care, daily comfort, and placed him with a foster family while searching for his forever home. Little did anyone expect that Benji had already found his perfect family. After just two months with his foster parents, they knew they couldn’t say goodbye. Benji enjoyed a life full of love and special moments, from hammock snuggles and beach days to long walks carried in a sling and playful photo shoots. He was cherished deeply.

Norman is a senior cat, recently diagnosed with thyroid disease. With your support, it was easy to run the essential bloodwork and testing to identify his condition and begin treatment. Without you, his road to recovery wouldn’t be possible. Your support doesn’t just help pets with visible health concerns. Even the young and seemingly healthy animals need critical tests like FeLV/FIV screenings. These essential diagnostics cost the shelter nearly $3,500 every month—a cost that is simply insurmountable without you.
